Just recently, I caught wind of a new classic track. One that reminds me of the good old days when hip-hop and rap meant you were listening to the OGs. This is something that you can nod your head to, something that is coming straight from Left Field. I’m talking about “The Baddest”.
Barclay Crenshaw, one of Claude VonStroke’s alter egos, flashes his hip-hop side of production, alongside the female tag team, Cam & China. The sheer power of their raw lyrics combined with the track’s flow packs a punch. Not just a face smasher, I’m talking a real uppercut straight through your jaw. This track release is part of a stepping stone, alongside his April tour announcement as well as his Sasquatch! Festival announcement.
While writing this article, I got a transmission from Crenshaw’s database. This is the transcription:
Barclay Crenshaw has stolen alien science data from the last ship to crash in North America and used the technology to produce a track with twin female rappers from Inglewood, California. This may seem like an odd use of technology, but at this point the mission has changed and music is the only thing left that can save the planet. The amazing 23 year old twin sister duo, Cam & China, have already earned their title of “The Baddest” in the booming West Coast rap scene. Originally part of Pink Dollaz—the Queens of the peak jerkin’ era—the siblings have shaped their raw, fierce sound with collaborators including MIA, DJ Mustard, Battlecat and D.R.U.G.S and recognized from LA Weekly as “The Best Hip Hop Duo in LA”.
