Florida metalcore band Wage War are keeping things brutal with the release of their new standalone single “Sweet Dreams,” arriving alongside an official music video and continuing the heavier direction the band has embraced throughout 2026.
The new track follows Wage War’s recently released It Calls Me By Name EP through Fearless Records. The project gave Briton Bond, Cody Quistad, Seth Blake, Chris Gaylord, and Stephen Kluesener an opportunity to lean further into the punishing side of their sound.
Despite its name, there isn’t much peaceful about “Sweet Dreams.” The track moves between crushing instrumentation, aggressive vocals, and melodic passages that give the song room to breathe without taking away from its intensity.

“Sweet Dreams” Pulls From 10 Years Of Wage War
While Wage War has experimented with different sides of its sound throughout its career, “Sweet Dreams” brings several of those eras together.
According to the band, the song is centered around deception and the comfort that can sometimes come from remaining unaware of what’s actually happening around you.
“‘Sweet Dreams’ is a song about being deceived by the world around you,” Wage War explained. “About safety in a sense of blissful ignorance.”
Musically, the band says the single draws inspiration from its entire catalog over the last decade. That history can be heard throughout the track. Wage War balances the heavier elements that helped establish the band with the melodic vocals and dynamics that became increasingly prominent as its sound evolved.
Instead of completely returning to one particular era, “Sweet Dreams” takes pieces from across Wage War’s career and pushes them into the band’s current direction.
Wage War Continues Its Heavier Direction
“Sweet Dreams” arrives shortly after It Calls Me By Name, which already showed Wage War wasn’t interested in holding back on its latest material.
The EP allowed the band to focus heavily on aggression, giving longtime listeners a collection of songs that emphasized massive riffs, breakdowns, and the intensity that has remained at the foundation of Wage War since its earliest releases.
Now, “Sweet Dreams” continues that approach while adding more melody to the mix.
For a band that has spent the past decade moving between crushing metalcore and more accessible melodic songwriting, the new single feels like a meeting point between those two sides rather than choosing one over the other.
The “Emergency Broadcast” Tour Hits The U.S. This Fall
Fans won’t have to wait long to hear Wage War’s latest material on the road.
The band will launch its Emergency Broadcast Tour this fall with We Came As Romans, Varials, and Cane Hill, putting together a stacked lineup representing several different corners of modern heavy music.
The U.S. headline run begins October 25 in San Antonio, Texas, before traveling across the country throughout November. Wage War will bring the tour home for its final night on November 27 in Orlando, Florida.
Between the release of It Calls Me By Name, the arrival of “Sweet Dreams,” and another major headline tour approaching, Wage War is giving fans plenty of new material heading into the final months of 2026.
