Pharrell Williams is all set to unveil his first Louis Vuitton collection during Paris Fashion Week. As per the recently released calendar of the Men’s Fashion Week this summer, he will debut his work on June 20 at 8:30 pm local time. This was put together under the artistic direction of Nicolas Ghesquière and is his first time working with Williams as creative director.
“Since 1854, Louis Vuitton has placed fashion in the context of culture bringing unique designs to the world, combining innovation with style and uncompromising quality,” Williams said in a statement. “Today, the Maison remains faithful to the spirit of its founder, Louis Vuitton, who invented a genuine ‘Art of Travel’ through luggage, bags and accessories which were as creative as they were elegant and practical.”
This past February, Williams was hired as Louis Vuitton Men’s Head Designer.
“Pharrell Williams is a visionary whose creative universes expand from music to art, and to fashion – establishing himself as a cultural global icon over the past twenty years,” Louis Vuitton said in their official announcement. “The way in which he breaks boundaries across the various worlds he explores, aligns with Louis Vuitton’s status as a Cultural Maison, reinforcing its values of innovation, pioneer spirit, and entrepreneurship.”
Louis Vuitton’s Chairman and CEO Pietro Beccari also said the following in a statement: “I am glad to welcome Pharrell back home, after our collaborations in 2004 and 2008 for Louis Vuitton, as our new Men’s Creative Director. His creative vision beyond fashion will undoubtedly lead Louis Vuitton towards a new and very exciting chapter.”
