Real Isolates is a family-owned biotech company that sells products under the brand name, Smokenol. In October, it announced that the company received a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a method of extracting cannabinoids and other compounds from cannabis smoke.
According to CEO Michiel Westerkamp, this method is a “simpler and safer alternative to CO2 or hydrocarbon extraction.” Furthermore, he added that it also allows for the creation of “edible, topical, and inhalable products that combine convenience, duration, and dose consistency with effects similar to those from smoking.”
Respect My Region had the opportunity to talk to the company’s own Smoke n’ Science Podcast hosts. In the recent episode, they talked about how Smokenol extraction and products work and why there is a difference between edible and smoking highs.

About Smokenol & Its Products
The company’s extracted oil is rich in common and rare cannabinoids. This oil is also more diverse than standard cannabis extracts. That’s because Real Isolates’ method utilizes high heat to transform CBD and other cannabinoids into many other cannabinoids.
The company’s products are also under the brands Smokenol Day and Profound Naturals. The company launched in 2019 and has since focused on developing new technology to extract cannabinoids from cannabis smoke, among other things. For instance, the company also focuses on the improvement and optimization of natural products as potential therapeutic options for patients with chronic disorders that do not respond well to traditional pharmaceuticals. Additionally, their team wants to develop the most eco-friendly and efficient means for producing their products without the use of toxic chemicals or the creation of unnecessary byproducts.
