Oskar Rindborg, also known as the stage name Osrin, is a dance music prodigy and producer from Sweden. He has been climbing the ranks of the EDM realm since he was a teenager with his mesmerizing and polished future pop sound.
At Ultra Music Festival, Respect My Region had the opportunity to speak to Osrin in Miami about his future collaborations, music inspirations, growing up around music, and more.
The international electronic artist has over fifty thousand monthly listeners on Spotify and nearly ten thousand followers on Soundcloud. Additionally, his songs “Used To Love (with Dean Lewis) – Osirin & Beau Collins Remix,” “Good Thing (feat. Kehlani) – Osrin Remix,” and “Not That Complicated” have been streamed over a million times each. He mostly produces singles and has only recently returned back from a long performance hiatus.

Osrin x RMR Exclusive Interview
RMR: How does music come to you? Is it experimenting in the studio or a tune that pops in your head?
Osrin: It depends. Sometimes I’ll be playing an instrument and record it on my iPhone, or I write with people.
RMR: Do you like working alone or collaborating more?
Osrin: Collaborating. Maybe starting an idea, but then bringing it to my writing friends. I write with a lot of writers from Stockholm; we just link up in my studio and jam.
RMR: How do you pick who to write with?
Osrin: I went to songwriting school, and there I just worked with everyone from the school. At first, I worked with many different people, but over time I found the ones I really connected with and kept writing with them.
RMR: Have you always wanted to pursue a career in music?
Osrin: Yeah, I think so. My mom works in music too; she’s in the choir in church. After that, she started a whole music school that I also went to as a kid–I always played guitar then.
RMR: Who is someone you hope to collaborate with in the future?
Osrin: Someone who would be fun to work with is Madeon. I used to listen to them a lot when I was younger. I always come back to his albums a lot, and I never get tired of it.
RMR: Do you love performing or making music more, and why?
Osrin: Making music. I love performing. This is the first time in two years that I’m back performing. I’ve just been focused heavily on making music and also making music for other artists that do a lot of co-productions. Although I really love doing that now, it’s going to be fun getting back to DJing.
RMR: What space makes you the most creative?
Osrin: When I first started, I made a lot of music in my bedroom. It comes really naturally when I’m at home. But nowadays, I mostly get inspired in the studio.
RMR: How do you prepare for a show? Do you get nervous?
Osrin: For Ultra, I made some mashups. At home, I have a DJ booth, so I can just practice there since I haven’t played in two years. I’ve just been trying to get back into how I used to do it, but it feels good to be doing it again.
Right now I’m not nervous, but when I do get nervous, I just try to think about what I’m gonna play and then I get calm and think, “it’s gonna be fun.”
RMR: What moments or people do you make music for?
Osrin: It depends. Lately, I’ve been making things for a lot of artists but also just trying to make things that get people excited.
