2022 Boston Cannabis Week Mixed Industry Networking With Hip-Hop Entertainment

The 2022 Boston Cannabis Week event series was slamming out of the park again like it came off a hit from Big Papi.

For the second year in a row, RMR had a chance to attend some of the week-long Massachusetts cannabis industry event series. Boston Cannabis Week, or BCW, features a series of events spread across seven days. These events include a golf tournament, yoga class, fashion show, networking event, block party, and hip-hop concert. The last two consecutive years have held incredible hip-hop line-ups and this year did not disappoint.

Networking

The main reason we flew out to Boston Cannabis Week was to meet and learn. BCW provides ample opportunity to do so. While we missed the golf tournament, fashion show, and online mixer, we were able to attend the in-person mixer at Big Night Live around TD Garden. I will say it was truly epic smoking a few blunts a stone’s throw from where the Celtics play, but the real winner of this night was the networking.

A few hundred industry professionals gathered from all over New England to share drinks from the open bar and a killer line-up of finger food – the sliders were crushing it. Sponsors held tables with un-infused giveaways and conversations were outstanding. We don’t get to the Northeast much, so anytime we can be in a room like this, we make a point to attend!

Music

Friday’s block party was a more tamed-down affair of the back-to-back events at the Underground at Ink Block venue. DJs spun and reggae bands got down while sponsors and vendors held unique interactions, giveaways, and games. AYR Wellness had a dope trailer pulled up with video game consoles in it where attendees could battle it out. Coast Edibles brought out the corn hole, and you couldn’t miss the lobster roll stand. While the attendance was less than at the concert the following day, the vibes were great. The atmosphere was perfect for interacting with everyone.

Saturday’s Xperience Boston concert featured Roc Marciano and Alchemist, Curren$y, and Common. Both Curren$y and Common stepped out with live bands and performed countless hits off their respective catalogs.

Spitta Andretti was both rapping and conducting the band and DJ during his set. He claimed that his DJ was picking songs at random to see how well he remembered his lyrics. For those that don’t know, the New Orleans rapper has put out over 70 commercial albums, EPs, mixtapes, and collaborative albums. The DJ clearly had a lot of ammo to run through. Although Spitta chain smoked joints, he kept his cool throughout the entire night. Michael Knight came towards the end of his set and the crowd hit the “skrrttt” perfect each time the hook hit.

Common is a rare breed of emcee. A “backpack” and underground legend who has also had commercial success in music and on the Hollywood screen. His presence on stage held nothing short of legendary status. Adorning a hoodie, sometimes the hood was on, and sometimes it was off during this set. He performed classics and a great rendition of one of my all-time favorites “The Food.” He also brought a guest on stage to use for some classic freestyle bars. He used the day, festival, guest on stage, and moments in the crowd intertwined in lyrics that were clearly off the top of the head and did so with flawless delivery. This man is every bit of a professional rapper and a true legend.

The 2022 Boston Cannabis Week was a great experience for us. The hospitality on the opposite coast was great. We look forward to coming next year for our third in a row. The networking, experiences, and entertainment line-up is A1. Can’t wait for 2023.
