Following the trend of deluxe albums taking the industry by storm, like Gunna’s recent Wunna album, Omaha, Nebraska standout artist YoungLordMessiah has delivered the newest edition in his series of mixtapes. Just ahead of the holiday weekend the “Legendary” rapper fired off his vibrant CLTLFE4VR 1.5: What Now Messiah EP, continuing on from where he left off on his breakout 2019 project.
CLTLFE4VR 1.5: What Now Messiah delivers his signature cadenced fueled vocals across five new tracks, including his recent singles “E-Regular” and “Anymeans” which was recently featured on HipHopDX.
Though the release is a deluxe edition, it is almost a completely new body of work and advances into a new, melody-leaning sound territory. Instead of the aggressively ferocious and candid bars that CLTLFE4VR Vol 1: No Love Lost Messiah tracks like “TSA (Freestyle)” embodied, the project offers moody deep-cuts and nuanced bangers.
Additionally, this edition of the CLTLFE4VR series projects is much a more even-keeled and smooth listen through. Tracks like “Stick Up Kid” are a great example of this newfound savor for tempo. The thick layers of harmonized vocals amalgamated with his rugged flows allows Messiah’s artistry to shine, as he rap-sings “Stick up kid, with a stick on me, aye.”
