Long Beach’s Top-Shelf Cultivation have struck gold with their Whoa-Si-Whoa strain. This powerful indica comes from crossing The White with Dos-Si-Dos to produce a noticeably high cannabinoid count. I typically don’t take much stock in strains with high THC when it comes to defining quality, but the terps were also reeking so I had high hopes. If I’m smoking a pre-roll I’m looking for a combination of effectiveness and convenience. This joint does a beautiful job at doing both. By the end of this pre-roll you’re going to be overcome by an incredibly classic sedative high.
Top-Shelf brings over 20 years of growing experience to the table, originating in the Emerald Triangle as one of the first large-scale indoor grows. This year they officially came into California’s recreational market and already won the 2019 Central Valley High Times Cannabis Cup for Best Indica Flower with the Whoa-Si-Whoa. Sourcing their genetics directly from breeders at High Times Cannabis Cups played a big role in how they came to find this potent strain.
The glass tube this pre-roll came in initially told me this was something special. Looking at the way it’s all put together even the pre-roll is meant to be a meaningful experience. When I unscrewed the lid I found a pleasant blast of spicy floral terps with a citrus twist. This led me to believe the terpenes from the parent strains came through with caryophyllene, myrcene, and limonene being the prevailing flavors. Even through the paper of the Whoa-Si-Whoa pre-roll I could see some of the purple that undoubtedly comes from the Dos-Si-Dos.

The pre-roll itself is only .75 of a gram, but it kept smoking forever like a king-size. The musky sweetness underneath a strong spice I was expecting came through in full-force when I lit it up. The cannabinoid counts on the packaging had me skeptical, because I rarely see a pure, whole-flower pre-roll with THC over 30%. But sure enough, halfway through the pre-roll and I was zoning tough. If you’re looking for something quick and easy to put you into full-relaxation for the evening—this is surely it.
Quickly my frequent shoulder-and-back pain melted away and made me think caryophyllene really came to play. This terp can access your endocannabinoid receptors like a pseudo-cannabinoid and offer anti-inflammatory effects. The high amount of cannabinoids and potent terps in this pre-roll really took it above-and-beyond for me though. Top-Shelf is definitely going the extra mile with their genetics. After taking the right amount of time to research and develop their cultivars they’re sure to keep producing winners.
