In his latest track, Weschamber remixes the 2014 hit “Summer” by DJ Calvin Harris. The song, of course, starts off with that classic line “When I met you in the summer.” From there, Weschamber begins to make it his own. Right away you hear a guitar riff that sets the tone for this melodic banger. At the 30 second mark we hear the initial drop as Wes adds to the beat.
As you hear the cymbals picking up the tempo of the song, you can’t help but feel the anticipation rising within you. Once you hit the 45 second mark, you start getting to the part we all wait for. That headbanging drop that makes you forget where you are, putting you in your own world of bliss and bass hunting adrenaline.
Of course, Weschamber doesn’t disappoint. Hitting us with a drop that makes me reminiscent of driving around with my homies in highschool at 3 a.m. Why were we driving around at 3 a.m.? Well, that’s a story another day. What’s important here is that “Summer Flip” is truly a gift to us, from Weschamber.
Last year, RMRs very own Robin Hess had a chance to interview Weschamber. They talked about what Wes’s inspiration is, why he wears his signature helmet, and how he got into music. But, my favorite part of the interview is when Robin asked him “What are your goals as an artist? What kind of impact do you want to make with your music? Wes responded…
“Haha, well as a young musician I wanted to win a Grammy, but my goals have changed a little as I’ve gotten older. I still think getting a Grammy would be amazing, but one of the biggest goals I have now is to help change the world with my craft. It may sound crazy, but it’s something I fully believe in. I want to reach new heights in music by crossing over smoothly into all genres and create something that people will truly appreciate on a new level. I also want to remain true and personal to my fans along the way.”
Wes has big plans for his music and the world. With a good head on his shoulders, along with his great music, Weschamber is a man driven with the intensity of a “Rocky” training montage. After listening to “Summer Flip” there’s no doubt in my mind that Weschamber will achieve every goal he sets for himself.
