D Smoke just dropped his highly anticipated sophomore album War & Wonders, featuring his brother SiR, as well as John Legend, Fireboy DML, Tobe Nwigwe, Marsha Ambrosius, WESTSIDE BOOGIE, BJ The Chicago Kid, and more. War & Wonders
The Inglewood-native Daniel “D Smoke” Farris officially “checked in” his conscious rap to the mainstream. The impactful artist released a series of thought-provoking singles this year, with some of them appearing in his new album War & Wonders. The project consists of 16 tracks with, inherent to the artist, complex yet compelling lyrics to “challenge people’s views” while guiding them through his vision of life.
War & Wonders is about capturing the beauty and struggle of Inglewood living. The wars we fight, both internal and external, help us to embrace love, success, and life’s many wonders.
D Smoke about War & Wonders in a press release
To share the album’s message, Smoke collaborated with John Legend, Fireboy DML, BJ The Chicago Kid, Tobe Nwigwe, and more. In order to visually complete the statement, he also picked dramatic album art. The piece, created by AJWILLDESIGN, is titled “Stronger Together,” and was slightly redesigned for the album cover. “It represents unity, struggle, and liberation,” Smoke said.
D Smoke Started Quite Recently
Former music theory and Spanish teacher at Inglewood High School, D Smoke gained significant attention after winning Netflix’s “Rhythm + Flow,” finding approval with judges Cardi B, T.I., and Chance The Rapper. Soon after the show, he released his first EP “Inglewood High.” This year, D Smoke gladdened his fans with the debut album, Black Habits. The critically acclaimed mixtape features Snoop Dogg, Jill Scott, Iguocho, SiR, and others. Moreover, the debut project brought him two Grammy nominations in the “Best New Artist” and “Best Rap Album” categories.
Overcoming life obstacles, D Smoke takes advantage of every opportunity to put his talent forward and make a name for himself. That is to say, the “Rhythm + Flow” victory was just a starting point to come out of the shadows. Soon after releasing his Grammy-nominated album, the artist proved that his craft deserves wide recognition. Certainly, with War & Wonders, D Smoke affirms his strong position in a competitive music battleground.
