If your pet has anxiety, chances are someone has told you to give your animal Cannabidiol, aka CBD. This specific cannabinoid is safe for animals. In fact, CBD products for pets are widely available in retail stores and online. Despite the benefits, veterinarians currently don’t have approval to treat their patients with CBD. But starting this October, licensed veterinarians in Nevada may treat their furry patients with certain cannabis products.
Veterinarians in Nevada can Now Administer CBD to Patients
CBD and hemp products allowed to be administered to pets must contain no more than 0.3% THC. Other cannabinoids still lack approval as well.
Nevada is indeed the first state to legalize the use of CBD in veterinary treatment. Governor Steve Sisolak signed Assembly Bill 101 earlier this year making it possible. This bill initially appeared in February because veterinarians were unclear whether or not they could administer CBD products.

This comes shortly after the FDA objects CBD as a dietary supplement. That said, there’s still many other proven benefits of cannabidiol in both humans and pets. Despite varying regulations between states, Nevada’s reform will hopefully cause a domino effect across the country.
