Uppermost just came out with their newest single, “Step By Step” featuring Sôra. This track combines catchy riffs, excellently placed keyboarding, and encompassing lyrics that hit deep.
“Step By Step” draws you in when you first hear it. This video gives me the sense they are in tune with each other and their music. I have a feeling this track was inspired and condensed from a much longer jam session. It’s easy picturing these guys in the studio, going off on a million different variations of this single song, until they got it right.

Step By Step starts with keyboard chords which grow progressively with the singer. Next, the guitarist and bassist break in with rifts. At 1:27, the keyboardist utilizes the drum effect on his keyboard to compose a beat. This gives the track a vibe outside of normal instrumental sound.
The beat brings the song together and leads to a buildup. Then there is a bass line and guitar rift accompanying an energetic transition through the last buildup.
This track’s neat composition makes you stop and appreciate it. The transitions were well placed, creating a gratifying ebb and flow.
