Independent digital music distributor TuneCore introduces Social Platforms, a new service for artists to upload their music to social media networks before releasing it to streaming platforms. The service proposes enabling independent musicians’ discovery while instantly monetizing their music.
TuneCore Social Platforms Explained
Let’s say you’re a budding artist starving for attention. First step is to register on all social media platforms. Your music needs to be on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram… everywhere, if you want it to go viral. However, the chances of somebody stumbling across your Instagram and using your music for stories or reels are far from high.
Enter TuneCore Social: a new service that provides a one-stop instant recognition service for artists’ music. The artist uploads the new song, or even just a portion of it, to the TuneCore platform. The content immediately enters the music libraries of all major social media hosts, and TuneCore works its magic.

The service doesn’t require an upfront fee. Instead, the company takes a percentage of the sales generated from social media. The artist can then post their work on the usual streaming platforms, such as Spotify or Apple Music, and generate revenue in the traditional way. TuneCore, however, gives them a power boost to get started and can help an obscure, unknown performer go viral.
Take the case of Charlotte Sands, the service’s honorary poster artist, who uploaded a fragment of her new song “Dress” in November 2020 and saw massive demand from social media users for the whole song. Within a week, she became a household name, and by the time her music hit Spotify, she was a well-recognized artist.
TuneCore is owned by the Paris-based label Believe. It is certainly easy to believe this new one-stop shop will soon be a mecca for all rising stars. For more details, see the company’s site, tunecore.com.
