RMR’s Official List of The Top 7 Songs of Summer 2023

Although Labor Day weekend marks the end of the summer for most, the season doesn’t officially end until September 23rd. As we enjoy the end of the warm weather, today’s RMR list features just a few of the best new music released during this summer. Our top 7 songs of summer 2023 features the likes of Dua Lipa, Kylie Minogue, Greta Van Fleet, Lil Uzi Vert, and more.

Top 7 Songs of Summer 2023

Dance The Night” Dua Lipa

Other than the Barbie movie being a box office smash hit, the movie’s album provided so many tracks that had everyone hitting repeat. However, Dua Lipas, who also starred in the movie as the Barbie mermaids,” Dance The Night” deserves to be at the top of the list. Used in a now-iconic dance number at the beginning of the film, it also had everyone else dancing all summer. Dua Lipas’ voice is perfect for party music-type tracks, and “Dance The Night” will surely have all the Barbies and Kens dancing for years to come.

The Indigo Streak” Greta Van Fleet

Is it the summer of 1973 or 2023? Regardless, Greta Van Fleet proves that the spirit of rock and roll is going nowhere. From their anticipated StarCatcher album released in late July, “The Indigo Streak” utilizes all the elements of classic rock from the first guitar riff followed by Josh Kiska’s booming voice you are almost sent back to those summers your grandparents always tell you about. Greta Van Fleet continues to keep the spirit of classic rock alive and well for both the old and new generations of rock and rollers.

The End (feat. BABYMETAL)” Lil Uzi Vert

It’s no secret that Lil Uzi Vert is a fan of Japanese culture, so it wasn’t shocking that the all-girl Japanese heavy metal group BABYMETAL was featured in one of the songs on the Pink Tape album. Although it caused a divide between fans on whether they thought the song was good or not, this track definitely had fans in a chokehold. Mixing heavy metal guitar riffs with hip-hop beats, “The End” is a boundary-pushing experiment that was made for all the hip-hop, metal, and anime weebs in the world, just like Lil Uzi Vert themself. This was definitely one of the top songs of summer 2023.

Rush” Troye Sivan

This single, which is the first song to Troye Sivans soon-to-be-released album Something To Give Each Other, is easily described as sensual. His soft singing voice creates a seductive atmosphere that’s both sexy and enchanting. “Rush” doesn’t shy away from expressing passion and connection in the lyrics while pairing them with an upbeat melody and loud, almost chanting-like melody. Making this the perfect track to look back on those steamy summer nights.

Sun Showers- Disclosure

For those more chill yet fun summer days, “Sun Showers” from Disclosure’s new album Alchemy is the perfect backdrop sound for those warm sunny days. The song opens with the calming sound of rain but soon transcends into an upbeat, dreamlike melody; you feel like you have been transported to a place where summer never ends. “Sun Showers” is the perfect song to play on those days when you miss the sun on your skin.

Padam Padam” Kylie Minogue

The unofficial yet official anthem for Pride 2023, “Padam Padam,” was playing everywhere during the month of June. The song is sexy and upbeat but, in general, just fun. The tempo embodies everything about the fun and exhilaration of giving it your all on the dance floor. The lyrics are simple, but sometimes that’s enough, as music is universal; a song doesn’t need insightful lyrics for it to bring people together.  This is a no brainer for including on a list of the top songs of summer 2023.

“Speed Drive” Charlie XCX

Although a track from the Barbie movie album was mentioned at the beginning of this list, it is almost impossible not to mention this Charlie XCX bop, having a little nod to Toni Basil’s iconic song “Hey Mickey,” “Speed Drive” is the song you blast in your car while picking up all your friends to drive off into the sunset. The energy from the song is so hard to resist, regardless if you’re a fan of Charlie XCX.

It’s hard to choose one song as the “song of the summer” as everyone’s music taste varies. Each summer often brings a range of music releases across various genres, catering to different tastes and preferences. The diversity of music that defines the summer months each year is what makes it so special.
