The Warning Daddy Yankee Bring In The Energy

The Warning, Daddy Yankee & Becky G Go Off On This Week’s Sonido Global

Once again, RMR Fam, let’s delve into the dynamic world of Spanish-language music through Sonido Global. Spanning from alternative jams of The Warning to passionate corridos of Becky G as she partners with Óscar Maydon. Brace yourself for an exhilarating journey featuring the latest tracks, rising stars, and innovative partnerships in this international soundscape.

The Warning “Qué Más Quieres”

This is probably one of my favorite Latin bands/artists in the circuit right now. The Warning is a bad ass bilingual rock band run by three talented sisters, and they have a new album coming out in late June. “Qué Más Quieres” is the fourth track in the upcoming record, Keep Me Fed. The vocals stay so strong and full of passion in this track. It’s intense and gritty from beginning to end in not just the song, but the music video also. It gives femme fatale vibes and matches the theme in regards to having had enough of someone’s bullshit. The Warning has won me over, and I can’t wait until this album comes out.

Daddy Yankee “LOVEO”

The legend is back with instant island vibes that blend perfectly with his classically catchy reggaeton pulse. Daddy Yankee shows off his renowned ability to wordplay as well as harmonize effortlessly in his work to compliment his charisma. In doing so, he makes the song fun and irresistible enough to get people dancing and singing along. An anthem for appreciating love and how it’s the root of the good in life, “LOVEO” makes for a great summer/beach tune with the video only supporting this with its tropical setting.

Becky G “MERCEDES (feat. Óscar Maydon)”

Becky G joins forces with Óscar Maydon in the realm of corridos to perform “MERCEDES,” a ballad to do with sensual desire and romance. Óscar Maydon sings very emotionally while Becky G amplifies that same emotion but in a bit more of a flirtatious way. Additionally, you hear the classical corridos instrumentals in the background that help you feel the emotions too. The video itself also depicts the two artists unafraid of showing the desire they’ve been singing about regardless of who is around or watching.

DJ Snake & Peso Pluma “Teka”

Combining genres and cultures, “Teka” by DJ Snake and Peso Pluma proves Latin instrumental percussions and funky guitar make for a dope ass combo with techno/disco club type sounds. Speaking of the techno beat, Peso Pluma’s cadence as he sings the word also matches the rhythm that you can’t help but jam out too. The song and music video are a celebration of party culture all throughout with some humor sprinkled in too. It’s hard to not be entertained by watching a SIMS-esque party with people of multiple personalities letting loose.

Nio García, Migrantes & DeMasters “Pa ‘La Discoteca”

Another great song for getting lit at the club, “Pa ‘La Discoteca” cohesively shows off all the skills of Nio García, Migrantes and DeMasters. You’ll hear a mix of reggaeton, hip-hop, pop, techno and even some ‘80s-type synth pop in this one. The piano’s cadence matches the electronic beat so well, and it provides a feeling of wanting to let loose along with the lyrics. The music video also tells a cool sci-fi/mystery story in between the party scenes.

TINI “ni de ti”

Filled with grungy pop tones and sexiness, “ni de ti” gives bad bitch energy right from the jump. The super heavy bass grabs your attention instantly and provides the rebellious edge TINI wants/needs to express when it comes to hate received as an artist. The spoken word portion just goes in on online trolls trying to tear her down and the toll it can take. The dialogue at the end of the song is TINI’s grandmother reminding her to pay no mind to the haters. The visualizer also seems to be just a part or segment of a much larger sequence that is cleverly cohesive with other releases from this extremely talented woman.

Remers “YOKO”

A perfect song for date night, this one is sexy and romantic at the same time. “YOKO” is a Latin R&B hit that’s smooth and gentle as it describes passion and devotion towards a person. The soft piano also adds to the romanticism of the lyrics. The video shows Remers biking all over town and making a few different stops, but they all show him with a contemplative demeanor to show he can’t stop thinking about his love.

Jay Wheeler & Mora “Textos Frios

“Textos Frios” by Jay Wheeler & Mora starts with an electronic intro that evolves into a more complicated flow as the bop progresses. The vocal runs between these two artists showcase both of their diverse ranges, and the vocals only continue to grow bigger with the added chorus and tempo acceleration later on. I love the retro, electronic percussive rhythm that wraps up the song and the minimalism used in the music video that seems to be symbolic of the cold and distant relationship that’s described in the lyrics.

Danna Paola “ATARI”

“ATARI” is an absolute pop banger that y’all are sure to love! Danna Paola’s vocals are beautiful and sassy, and she uses reggaeton beats mixed with snappy pop sounds to make a unique blend all her own. Infectious from start to finish, you could easily bop to this song anytime you’re feeling yourself and the person you want to get down with. The music video is hot as hell too with provocative choreographery that shows us Paola is completely unafraid of her sexuality.

Eladio Carrion “Heavyweight”

Eladio Carrion comes in slow but smooth with his flow while also maintaining wordplay that goes hard af. This is a recipe for a good song choice to sit back and smoke too. Carrion’s message is his unapologetic flex on his life and all that he’s able to get just because he can. There’s also a haunting mood that looms over the track with broody synths and other dark-sounding electronic instrumentals. The night vision used in the music video only adds more to the haunting aesthetic.

We hope you enjoyed this week’s Sonido Global selections! Each song hints at new stories waiting to be told, fresh rhythms to dance to, and deeper emotions to evoke. Remember, music transcends language barriers, weaving connections that span across location and generations.
