Over the years people recognize Governors Ball, as an extremely popular festival for music lovers. Originally starting on New York City’s Governors Island, Govball is now throwing its 13th annual event. The Gov Ball 2024 lineup is a promising one that has many heads turning. This year’s headlining acts include Rauw Alejandro, The Killers, SZA, and many other spectacular fan-favorite performers.
About The Festival
Spanning from Friday, June 7th through Sunday, June 9th, Gov Ball will stick to the basics that allowed the festival to be a bona fide hit for years to come. Due to the 2020 pandemic, Gov Ball had to take a pause, much like the rest of the world and its people. They unfortunately had to postpone their 10th anniversary, but were able to revive it in September of 2021.
This year, like the year prior, Gov Ball will take place in Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, though in previous years it took place at Citi Field, and before that the legendary Randall’s Island. Gov Ball offers more than just the best performers in music. Full of art and amazingly talented food vendors, the 3-day festival can best be described as the “East Coast Coachella.”
Gov Ball’s eclectic range of performers allows for all music genre lovers to hop around from stage to stage. But some performances will be extremely notable this time around.
Artists In The Lineup
Tyla is a hitmaker who took TikTok by storm and is keeping her legacy more than afloat. Hitting the stage on Saturday, this performance will be one of her first festival shows in the very early stage of her career. With her debut EP already out, and a self-titled debut studio album set to release before Gov Ball, the afrobeat artist will certainly have a packed house.
Amongst the headliners, some incredible performers on the Gov Ball 2024 lineup will take the stage. Many of these artists boast new albums released in 2023. New indie-pop darling Chappel Roan will certainly make her crowd roar. This critically acclaimed artist playing on Sunday is one to push yourself to the front of the crowd for. Her intense energy and Midwest country twang is unapologetic and loveable.
Gov Ball’s location allows for an immense amount of accessibility compared to years prior. All walks of life are more likely to attend since the area is close to residential locals as well as commutable for those visiting New York for the first time. Flushing, Queens also has great accommodations for hotels for those who want to party till the break of dawn with their favorite artists. Whether it’s for all three days or just one, Gov Ball is an event you just can’t miss.
