Tanna Leone is the newest signee to Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang record label. He’s been writing music and lyrics since a very young age. However, his music has just now been released on streaming platforms starting in 2022. In a short period of time, he’s been working hard creating new music with singles such as “Picasso” and “Death n’Taxes.” He recently dropped his debut album titled Sleepy Soldier, which showcases his diverse yet relatable hip-hop sound.

Kendrick Lamar co-founded the pgLang record label with Dave Free in 2020. Baby Keem, who is Kendrick Lamar’s cousin, was the first artist to be signed to pgLang. He received notable success with his album The Melodic Blue, which features the hit collaboration “Family Ties” featuring Kendrick Lamar. Because of this, it has opened the door for artists such as Tanna Leone. He saw his first release in early 2022 with songs “With The Villains” and “Lucky.”

Tanna Leone describes his music to be a balance of both melody and lyrics. When listening to his music, he incorporates the hip-hop sound with R&B and rock influences. His artistic diversity with different stylistic influences sets his sound apart. This could potentially be a reason he’s the only artist signed to pgLang outside of Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem.
At 23 years old, Tanna Leone has barely scratched the surface for what he can accomplish. This is made clear with his debut album, as his originality and hustle shines with having no features.
