Last year we reported on the Tacoma rap group MKF when they started to break into the hundreds of thousands and millions of streams. Many outlets have yet to cover the local group’s success and now it seems they have met yet another obstacle. The Tacoma Police Department has allegedly forced venues to cancel their Washington tour dates.
An irreplaceable member of the group was slain at a show at Studio 7 in Seattle this past February. Due to the ongoing investigation of the murder of Glewie Sparccs, the Tacoma Police Department wants to stop the group from performing live anywhere. Their tour dates in Bremerton, Olympia, and Tacoma have been canceled. Venues have been called and informed about the shooting making the group to look as the cause instead of victims. I reached out to MKF’s Lewie and was informed that certain venues are no longer returning calls or explaining why.
MKF is seeing plays online well outside of their home city, but their home community shows LOVE. While their hometown shows love as a whole, parts of their hometown are currently holding back their passion. Lewie like me know “it feels like the community embraces us, we get love when we out. it’s like a fucc you from the people who formed this city! half our friends dead or in jail, we just tryna make music to get tf out.”
