Tacoma is always slept on. In the national Hip-hop spotlight, Seattle/The Northwest is slept on as a whole, but Tacoma is straight slept on in the Northwest!
I was with some label reps on the East Coast a few years ago and they were talking about ILLFIGHTYOU, yet I don’t see them getting the shine in our scene they warrant. Clemm Rishad wrote for hella cats in the game and still doesn’t get his due locally with his incredible solo music. Lil Ripp and the MKF family have been clocking hundreds of thousands of plays for years, and still get slept on.
MKF – On My Shit
MKF consist of Dippiano, Glewie Sparccs, Melliano, Rozay , Slim, Day1, Lil Quan, and Lewie (formerly Lil Ripp). The crew just passed 300k streams on Soundcloud yet local media coverage has been light. Their sound may be raw in nature, but it has all of the makings to be new age west coast hits. After only releasing music as a collective collective for 8 months, the group has clearly made some noise on the net and viewing any on of their videos will see they roll deep in their city.
