He can be found connecting comics to the latest music he’s producing for an even more exciting and enduring experience. We were lucky enough to connect with him to learn more about his latest singles “Heroes” and “Get Up Again.”

Throughout the interview, SUPERSPECIAL gave us insight from his musical upbringing. He also spoke on challenges he’s seen and dropped some advice for navigating your way through the struggle.

Exclusive SUPERSPECIAL Interview

RMR: Several months into 2019 – How does it feel to have your debut track, Heroes released? Are you getting the feedback you hoped for?

SS: Frankly speaking, there wasn’t any surprise as to the great success that’s come with the release. After all, I am a superhero, lol. But actually I wasn’t so much afraid of the peoples’ reactions, I was rather afraid of their interpretation of my idea. My concept was something super personal to me, and I put it all out there – for everyone to see. To me—music is what motivates each and every one of us.

It’s what keeps us moving forward, closer to our goals and dreams. With my first track, I just wanted to start an honest dialogue with my listener—I’m not the only superhero, here—we all are heroes. Truthfully, I’m damn proud of my first release. I now have my listeners, now people are on a par with new episodes of the comic about my adventures, awaiting the release of my songs. I promised that it’d be interesting—I won’t let anyone down.

RMR: For someone that’s just been shown SUPERSPECIAL—How would you describe yourself? A musician that does comics? Or a comic that does music?

SS: I can’t call myself a musician, but I’m not solely a made-up picture or a comic book story. My music is my way of dealing with the imperfections of this world, and in the comics I want to introduce the idea I bring to the masses. I am the same as everyone with my doubts and wanderings, but also with the insane idea of doing something righteous. Not just for myself, but for the world we live in.

RMR: Did you have inspirational figures around you growing up to help create what you’ve done or what type of game plan did you come up with to do what you do now?

SS: I can’t say that I’ve had any particular kind of a role model or a plan, I’m life’s student—every new encounter or life situation helps form me as an individual. I grow together with both my friends and my enemies; together we will create the exact inspirational figure that all of us will strive to become and look up to.

SUPERSPECIAL

RMR: What type of challenges have you faced and overcome carving out your own lane and getting to the point you’re at now?

SS: A test is nothing more than a chance to prove the superiority of one’s perseverance over it. I’ve had difficulties in overcoming my fear of not being accepted or understood by others. Yet, I’d like to think, I’ve somewhat overcome all of that.

RMR: What type of advice would you give someone just starting out with similar ideas to those you had? Combining multiple avenues like SUPERSPECIAL, comics and music?

SS: Perhaps the only advice I’m willing to give is that everyone needs to believe in him/herself. After all, everyone’s a hero. Most of all to themselves. Believing in yourself is what helps reach your desired heights, it’s what drives you to constantly move forward, towards your goals. No matter how complicated it can all get. Believe it. Fight it. Reach for it!

SUPERSPECIAL – Get Up Again

RMR: What sort of things could we expect from you within the rest of 2019?

SS: 2019 promises to be a very, very difficult year. It seems that I will have to forget about my personal life altogether, haha. Concerts, performances, and festivals are already planned out. Special events aimed at combating the pollution of our planet and the deterioration of the environment. I plan the first release of my printed comic.

Who knows, maybe more. I always want to do something more. I don’t have time to catch up with myself! It always seems like there’s so much to still be done, but there’s so little time.
