Sunbright Gardens stands as a dank beacon in California’s Mendocino County. This natural outdoor farm was a highlight from the first West Coast Weed Tour. Sunbright Gardens is part of Arcanna Flowers and under the Mendocino Generations cannabis brand. This garden maintains the natural ecosystem in and around the garden. Therefore creating a permaculture style operation instead of a sterile monoculture operation that many indoor grows use.
You’ll see farm dogs, butterflies, bees, and birds cruising through the garden. An unfamiliar site to people who are familiar with indoor grows here in Washington. Alongside 7-foot tall plants, visitors will notice words of affirmation, flowers, and vegetables. Bright purple and vividly green nugs sit amongst nature in harmony.
Owners Mo and Gus are quick to let you know this is not a grow operation, this is a fully functional garden. Furthermore, with a true love for the plant and strong roots in harvesting and providing for the earth, the two are an embodiment of the historic culture. Mendocino County is one of the pillars and origins of cannabis culture in America.
Mo and Gus live and breath cannabis. It shows in their plants. The California sun and natural terroir allow the plants to grow to towering sizes. As a result, a fully expressed terpene profile is developed that represents each strain’s genetic profile.
Their stand out local strain was the Goo Platinum Cookies. A cross between Platinum Cookies and Jah Goo, a genetic deeply rooted in the region’s culture. Unlike the commercialized version of legal cannabis, Sunbright approaches growing the plant as a community effort. They share strains and secrets amongst other farmers. The two are also advocates for regulation and voices for the people who just want to grow weed.
