For as long as I can remember rappers have always wanted to be ballers and ballers have always wanted to be rappers.
Not only are they seen frequently hanging out; both are huge pieces of inspiration to the other. These are the artists and ball players who I thought shared similar characteristics.
Drake & Steph Curry
- Normal unassuming guys.
- Don’t appear to be the types of player/artist who can dominate and put up numbers the way they do.
- Steph’s scouting report out of Davidson is comparable to the many opinions of Drake’s Comeback Season.
- Both light skinned.
- Both rarely miss.
- Both make it look easy.
- Steph Curry 1 ring. Drake 3 Grammy’s.
LeBron James & Kendrick Lamar
- Both held in regard as the kings of their sport, but many others favorite Drake/Steph Curry.
- Dominant
- Proven catalogs
- Put up numbers no one has seen before.
- LeBron 3 rings. Kendrick 7 Grammy’s.
- GOAT status
Kobe & Lil Wayne
- Led great teams (Lakers & Young Money)
- Over a decade of delivering a great catalog.
- Lil Wayne dedicated an entire song to Kobe.
- Kobe 5 rings. Lil Wayne 5 Grammy’s.
- GOAT status
Kawhi Leonard & J. Cole
- Quiet & humble
- Both are said to be boring to watch/listen to.
- Not concerned with superstardom.
- Arguably the MVP’s of their sport.
- Kawhi 1 ring & 1 Finals MVP. J. Cole 5 Grammy nominations.
- Put up great numbers & have stellar performances, but are slept on.
Kevin Durant & Big Sean
- Superstars
- KD put’s up great numbers. Big Sean has had a number of hit records.
- Both want to be the guy.
- Still waiting on their moment to be #1.
- KD no Championships. Big Sean no Grammy’s.
Russell Westbrook & Future
- Turnt up/high energy
- High volume shooting/music releasing
- Always going
- You know what you’re going to get from them each and every performance.
- Sometimes you love what they do & sometimes you hate what they do.
Giannis Antetokounmpo & Chance The Rapper
- Leaders of the new school
- Chance is independent. Giannis plays in a small market.
- Huge potential to be the guys for the next generation.
- Have already proven to be stars in their own right.
James Harden & Migos
- Superstars
- Grinded their way to the top proving naysayers wrong on their levels of success.
- Unorthodox styles of rapping/play.
- Fun to watch/ fun to rap with & vibe to.
Paul George & Wale
- Highly talented
- Good bodies of work
- Have had their renaissance years, but have failed to break through that ceiling and reach that next level of superstardom.
- Blame external sources for shortcomings. (e.g. teammates/fans)
