Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse is taking box offices by storm and is the number one movie in America after its opening weekend in the theaters. Marvel’s animated adventure features a voice cast that includes Jake Johnson, Liev Schreiber, Oscar Issac, Nicolas Cage, and many more. Music from the motion picture is bringing along a star strapped lineup as well and features some of hip-hop’s biggest names like Nicki Minaj, Post Malone, Ski Mask the Slump God, Lil Wayne, Ty Dolla $ign, and Vince Staples.
This album listens like an epic Spider based hero’s journey. Each track stands on its own, but there are plenty of nods, easter eggs, and references to the patron saint of web-slinging. The setlist is perfect; after listening through the album I feel like I have a good understanding of the pacing of the film itself. The soundtrack’s production is top notch, every song is robust and nothing sounds out of place.
“What’s Up Danger,” “Start A Riot,” “Let Go,” and “Home” act as anchor points of the listening experience. Other standout tracks include “Elevate,” “Memories,” and “Scared of the Dark. This soundtrack shines when it’s enjoyed in order from beginning to end. It might convince you to give the movie a shot, even if you’re not a Spider-Man fan.
