Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions Vol. 53

The 2023 Latin Grammy’s Song of the Year has truly earned a top spot on this list. In case you didn’t know, this song took the world by storm with Shakira’s cutting and unapologetic lyrics as well as Bizzarap‘s sick electronic beats. Produced in Bizzarap’s home studio, this track with humble beginnings quickly became a global sensation! P.S. How someone could fumble an absolute QUEEN like Shakira will forever remain one of the world’s biggest mysteries.

Bad Bunny “MONACO”

Another global hit that’s extremely hard to miss is El Conejito Malo’s “MONACO.” A song of luxury with bassy trap beats and orchestral instrumentals, Bad Bunny does it all in this banger that’s stayed in multiple charts since the album release of, nadie sabe lo que va a pasar mañana back in October. The luxurious vibes aren’t only sonical but also visual in the music video with classy settings like Carbone with none other than THE Al Pacino and then back in Monaco with racecar driver, Sergio Pérez.

Peso Pluma, Gabito Ballesteros & Junior H “LADY GAGA”

A mixture of traditional instrumentals with hip-hop style, “LADY GAGA,” surpasses expectations with bars that go hard followed by softer, Spanish-guitar. Said instrumentals are clean and simple, and all these artists flow perfectly together in each of their verses. This is the type of music that’s changing the Latin trap game by helping give rise to the tumbados movement of combining modern sounds with traditional corridos.

Young Miko “wiggy”

This queer queen is rising and rising FAST. Having released her debut album in 2022, she’s already done collaborations with the likes of Bad Bunny, KAROL G, and Marshmello to name a few. In “wiggy,” we get a great song for going out and having fun with that cute girl you’ve set your sights on. Young Miko shows off her Spanglish skills by dropping a couple bars in English as well as her dancing skills in the music video as she joins several talented dancers in some dope ass choreography!

Sinego “Violeta”

If you haven’t heard of Sinego, start paying attention because there are big things ahead for this artist. Having collaborated with Diplo, it’s only a matter of time before we start seeing Sinego more and more in the EDM game. “Violeta” is a song from his latest album Alterego, and it’s got bassy, dark beats with samples from Chilean singer/songwriter Violeta Parra’s powerful and raw lyrics. Who knows, maybe, we might have an exclusive look coming your way with more details on this extremely skilled DJ. *hint hint*

Daddy Yankee “Bonita”

We couldn’t do this list without mentioning this legendary reggaetonero. This song is fast-paced and gets you moving with it’s pusling tropical rhythms. Coming from his latest album LEGENDADDY, Daddy Yankee shows he’s still got it by gaining loads of popularity with this track. I challenge you to listen to this song and NOT have those hips moving a little bit.

ROSALÍA “Tuya”

This tune has ROSALÍA’s typical sound with a message about being powerful in your sexuality. The video gives sick visuals of ROSALÍA in a variety of scapes throughout Japan just being cute and silly (also peep the cute pup in the video). This songstress’ vocal runs never cease to give me chills, and I love the deep, bassy beat in contrast with her feather-like voice.

Maluma & Marc Anthony “La Fórmula”

Coming at you with a blend of traditional salsa with modernized rhythms and verses, “La Fórmula” is a single from Maluma’s album, Don Juan that does not keep itself in a one-genre box. Bringing this kind of traditional and modern fusion is becoming more and more of the norm these days with Latin music, and that’s really something to celebrate. It goes to show modern artists haven’t lost sight of the roots of the heritage, and it’s here to stay.

Tego Calderón “La Receta”

Winning Best Reggaeton Performance in the 2023 Latin Grammy’s, Tego Calderón has returned with a FORCE, and this song has got just the right kind of bounce to get your head boppin’. This has definitely been a fan favorite in the world of reggaeton, and with it comes a very playful and colorful music video. Having only come out with singles over the years, we can only hope that we can hear more of this reggaetoneros sound in a whole new album. Let’s make it happen!

Marshmello & Manuel Turizo “El Merengue”

This Latin pop and EDM fusion is just one of many in Marshmello‘s debut Latin album released earlier this year, Sugar Papi. “El Merengue” in particular has gotten the most attention, and it’s not hard to see why. The video features Manuel Turizo hung up on an ex-flame that he happens to run into at a nightclub one night. Marshmello’s signature synthetic tones come into play so well with Turizo’s rich, baritone-like vocals.
