Are you a cannabis consumer who’s always on the lookout for the next big product? Consider checking out the cannabis-themed competition, the Cannabis Cup. Every year brands and consumers gather to feature and celebrate all things green. In 2022 though, people in Southern California are in for a treat.

What Is The Cannabis Cup People’s Choice Event?
While a festival normally highlights brands and products over a two-day period, SoCal Cannabis Cup 2022 is a bit different. Opening up to the public for the second time, residents of SoCal and Los Angeles will be able to sample and judge the products for themselves. Here’s how it works.
Cannabis brands can submit their product for inclusion in the contest. Furthermore, kits will be available for purchase to all judges on May 13th and 14th, followed by a judging timeframe from May 14th – July 10th. Finally, winners will be crowned for each category on July 24th at 4:20 pm PST.
Thanks to the delivery of each kit, you’ll get to sample the products on your own time, all while in the comfort of your own home. Anyone of legal age or with a valid medical card is able to become a judge and sample some product. Here are 2022s categories.

Who Has Won The Cannabis Cup Prevously?
Past winners of the Cannabis Cup include brands such as The Cure Company, Green Dragon, Top Shelf Cultivation, and more. A couple of notable strains that have won previous years include Biscotti, Runtz, Gelonade, and more. A complete compilation of SoCal Cannabis Cup winners can be found here.
Due to the remote nature of the competition this year, a lot more people will be able to participate as judges. This will be the largest SoCal cannabis competition to date, with over 2,200 judge kits expected to be delivered.
As the submission period for brands is in May, it’s hard to say what products will fight for the crown. What’s for sure is a lot of brands are expected to compete, as each year’s winners gain lots of clout in the cannabis community.
