Harlem rapper Sheck Wes saw his popularity skyrocket with his hit song “Mo Bamba”, and he’s now released a music video to the follow up titled “Chippi Chippi.” The drop of the video is meant to prepare fans for his mixtape titled Mudboy, which is expected to be released this upcoming Tuesday.
The video is partially directed by Sheck Wes himself, while White Trash Tyler is credited as well. The video showcases Wes being on an island resort, as many of the shots are taken from a beach and a huge mansion. In addition, he smokes weed in the dark, goes for a swim, and even has a reference to Tom Hank’s film Castaway.
The instrumental itself for “Chippi Chippi” is rather laid back, as a dissonant lead is paired with a booming 808 line. It can be best described as a trap based beat, because many of the same elements are heard from start to finish.
