The Northwest isn’t as united as we would like to see. Numerous cities sit in their respective pockets and don’t blend too much outside of their circles. Portland and Seattle are the meccas of Oregon and Washington hip-hop music.
While the cities are far from one and the same, both are hotbeds for talent that has yet to see that much national exposure. The artists on this playlist have maneuvered to be considered some of the top talents in their respective cities.
I took some time out after rolling up some GreenRush 9lb Hammer and thought of some collaborations that I think would be dope. Check out the playlist and my thoughts below!
Seattle & Portland Collabs We Want To See
Myke Bogan x Dave B
Myke and Dave could really team up for a nasty record. Boom bap or funk, these two would make a banger! This for real… should happen
Rasheed Jamal x Huey P
While the tracks on here have a similar vibe at most, they are not synonymous in content. These two could kill a few styles together. Both are able to dabble with “mainstream” sounds but never fall short of actually saying something in their music.
Mic Capes x Draze
Draze and Capes both have bars to serve for dinner. They also piece together musical compositions containing real lyrics deep in production value. Both artists are also very active in their communities. The two records on this playlist blend well but the catalogs will also satisfy.
Raz Simone x Mikey Vegaz
These guys are respected OG’s in their home cities. Raz Simone is a star in Seattle and Mikey Vegaz is a veteran hustler in his home city of Portland. These two both come from dark areas and kick a lot of game and inspiration to their neighborhoods. Get them to spit over a string quartet and some trap drums, and damn it’s over.
