The city of brotherly love is in for a treat this upcoming June. The annual Roots Picnic festival will take place June 1st-2nd in Philadelphia at The Mann in Fairmount Park. The most anticipated performance will be a celebration of the music of New Orleans with Lil Wayne, The Roots, Trombone Shorty, Pj Morton and more.
In addition, Philadelphia legend Jill Scott, Rap mogul Nas, and a special appearance by André 3000 will headline the festival. To see the full lineup of performers check out the official announcement below.
Deeply Rooted
Since 2008, the Roots Picnic Festival has been a positive experience for the City of Philadelphia. Curated by Philadelphia natives The Roots and co-founded by the President of Live Nation Urban Shawn Gee, the festival prides itself on being a welcoming environment for artists and on goers. Each year, Roots Picnic has pushed the needle for celebrating black excellence in music through memorable performances.
Last year’s festival featured the likes of Usher, Lauryn Hill, EVE, The Roots, Jazmine Sullivan, Busta Rhymes, Ari Lennox among more. Each year The Roots Picnic will bring a different dynamic to the world of festivals and the black community. Check out Usher’s live set of last year’s event.
2024 Roots Picnic Festival Information
In addition to the headlining acts, Gunna, Fantasia, Muni Long, Wale, Leon Thomas, Tyla, Victoria Monet will also be performing. Tyla and Victoria Monet recently were awarded their first ever grammy awards. Million Dollarz Worth of Game creators, Wallo and Gillie, will also be featured on the live podcast stage among more.
