British singer-songwriter, Rex Orange County, who is formally known as Alexander James O’Connor, and who has also become a very popular sensation in the world of alternative and indie music has just announced the release of his newest upcoming album called “The Alexander Technique”.
The 26-year-old artist who grew up singing in the school choir is known for combining his sound with elements of jazz, hip-hop, and bedroom-pop. Let’s take a look at what Rex Orange County has been contributing to indie lovers around the globe.

Rex Orange County released his very first project to the world in November of 2016 called “Bcos U Will Never B Free”, a ten-track mixtape that Rex self-produced when he was still a teenager. The mixtapes includes ten songs total with the most popular one being “Corduroy Dreams”. This mixtape helped Rex gain quite a bit of traction and popularity online.
Shortly after in that same month of November in 2016, Rex dropped a single called “Uno” to keep this fame rolling even longer. Little did he know that 2017 was about to be a pretty big year for him as an artist.
In January of 2017, he dropped his next single called “Best Friend”. A few months later in March, he then dropped his following single called “Sunflower”. On April 19th, Rex Orange County dropped his mega hit “Untitled” which was a snippet of his debut album that was set to release.
His debut album dropped only days later on April 26th and was titled “Apricot Princess” with ten songs total. The album features artist Marco McKinnis on the third track “Nothing”. The most popular songs on the debut are “Television / so Far so Good”, “Untitled”, and “Happiness”. This successful debut would really help Rex take off in the industry and help him expand his sound.

In September of that same year, Rex dropped another single called “Edition” and then a month later in October he dropped another single called “Loving Is Easy” which featured artist Benny Slings.
In February of 2019 Rex released yet another single called “New House” before he would drop his next album in October of that same year called “Pony”. Rex Orange County recorded “Pony” almost entirely by himself with the help of one producer named Ben Baptie. There are ten songs total, as well, with the most popular hit being “Pluto Projector”.
The next album that Rex Orange County would drop was “WHO CARES?” in March of 2022. This album featured well-known and beloved artist Tyler, The Creator on the second track “OPEN A WINDOW”. The other most popular songs on the album are “KEEP IT UP”, “AMAZING”, and “THE SHADE”.
Rex dropped his latest single “THREAT” in August of 2022, so fans have had quite a bit of time to get excited for new music.
New Album and Tour
Rex Orange County will release his newest self-produced album on September 6th called “The Alexander Technique” with a whopping total of sixteen songs. The first, second, and seventh track have already dropped, those being “Alexander”, “Guitar Song”, and “The Table”.
“Alexander” has a music video that dropped two months ago already and “The Table” now has a music video as well that just dropped a few weeks ago.
Rex Orange County says that this new album is a look into his own brain and experiences from the past few years, like a diary that he is putting out into the world. He also says that he tried to have this project encompass everything about his life and that it is exactly what he has always wanted to make.
Rex Orange County is set to go on tour between October 3rd of this year and February 19th of next year. He will be performing in Chicago, New York, Boston, Atlanta, Tampa, Austin, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Oakland, Toronto, Vancouver, and of course, London.
