Chance The Rapper and Reeseynem have dropped a new video for their song “What’s The Hook” – a simple yet fun song for both MCs. The song itself only dropped two days ago, and it’s obvious that both artists are looking to keep the hype going by releasing the video so soon after the initial release.
While a large percentage of hip-hop releases are based around darker and more serious topics, “What’s The Hook” is a refreshing contrast to what has recently been released in the hip-hop world. Throughout the video, both rappers appear to be celebrating around the city of Chicago. They are seen visiting a snack shop on a corner, dancing on the street, and riding a bunch of bikes through the city.
Reeseynem is heard first on the track, and delivers simple yet punchy lines. On the other hand, Chance The Rapper delivers a verse that shows off his classic sound, which possesses significantly more melodic qualities. The instrumental itself pairs well with both artists, as it offers a wide variety of instrumentation. A large portion of the brass elements can be compared to the sonic tendencies of Macklemore and Ryan Lewis’s early music.
For all fans of hip-hop, “What’s The Hook” is simply a fun and uplifting summer listen. Check out the track below!
