Listening to rap music, you always hear about them pouring up something good to sip on. Could be a 40 oz. Malt Liquor, a fifth of vodka, a handle of Hennessy, and the list goes on. But, if you order that bottle service at the club, you may get some alcohol from one of your favorite rappers without knowing. Going along with our rappers with cannabis list, here’s 10 well-known rappers that have their own alcohol lines on the market.
Rappers With Alcohol Products
Post Malone: Maison 9 Wine
Everyone loves a little Posty, whether it’s from the “White Iverson” days or the “Motley Crew,” face-tatted version of the widely-known rapper. Everyone loves a little wine with dinner, too. Post Malone released a French Rose wine called Maison 9. It refers to his favorite tarot card “The Nine of Swords”. During the first 48 hours of release, Posty’s wine hit record breaking pre-order sales of 50,000 bottles on Vivino. Alongside the alcohol, he also sells Maison 9 merchandise, such as sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and wine glasses.
Young Thug: Belaire Luxe Rose
Thugger has released a champagne/Rose blend for the class, sex appeal, and fashion that exists in hip-hop. Young Thug is known to enjoy some Rose, as he and Lil Uzi Vert have been spotted sipping on some themselves. He made his own brand of wine as a way to express his fashion. Also, because he was “drinking on other people’s stuff who didn’t care to support us.”
Thugger released his Belaire Luxe Rose, which has a signature pink color for the ladies; and as he states, “the girls love it.” Sweet like strawberries, the bubbly wine has a distinct aim for not only great taste, but great look. Young Thug is known for his fashion sense, so to put a bit of design that way only makes sense.
Jay-Z: Ace of Spades Champagne/D’Usse
Jay-Z is one of the first hip-hop artists to hit the ten-figure milestone. He has many investments and ventures that allowed him to reach that number. His champagne line, Ace of Spades, is said to be worth “half a B” as referred to in Meek Mill’s 2018 song, “What’s Free.” Ace of Spades began in 2006, when Jay-Z debuted his champagne brand by showcasing the gold bottle in his music video for “Show Me What You Got.”
Forbes valued his champagne line to be worth around $630 million. He also owns half of the alcohol line D’Usse, which is a Cognac line with Bacardi. This line of alcohol is worth around $120 million.
Drake: Virginia Black Whiskey
Well-known rapper and entrepreneur Drake has invested in his own alcohol called Virginia Black. The partnership between him and liquor entrepreneur Brent Hocking started back in 2016; he has celebrated the deal on multiple occasions. You could see Drake celebrating on-stage at the Billboard Music Awards with bottles of VB in hand. He even mentions it in his song “Gyalchester,” where he states “Virginia Black, I could make enough money off that to not even rap.” While promotion isn’t up there with brands like Ciroc, Virginia Black sold over 30,000 cases in its first year, and it is still available today.
Snoop Dogg: Cali Red
Cali Red is a wine from legendary rapper Snoop Dogg, partnered with the 19 Crimes company. The 19 Crimes company is well-known for their wines, with Martha Stewart being another partner. Those who have tasted it say that it has a blend of black cherry, vanilla, and candied raspberry. It was the number one best-selling wine innovation of 2020, and since then, Snoop has created another line of wine called Rose.
Young M.A.: VSOP Cognac
The Brooklyn rapper known for her hit song “OOOUUU” has released a line of Cognac with the company NYAK. The bottle has a signature red look to it, as it represents Young M.A.’s “Red Lyfe”. It hit select markets across the country last month, with pre-launches in late January at Total Wine and more locations. She’s also the first official artist partner to collaborate with the NYAK company, and the first Cognac to be tailored to the African American community and hip-hop culture. Today, NYAK is in the top 10 of leading Cognacs and growing.
Nicki Minaj: MYX Moscato
The superstar rapper/singer Nicki Minaj partnered with Myx Fusions in 2013 to release a line of Moscato that comes from California, which usually originates from Italy. The difference between regular wine and the Myx brand is that the bottles come as a single-serve, twist off cap. This brand’s target audience made it a perfect opportunity for Nicki Minaj to become co-owner, as the demographic was aimed particularly at the Black and Hispanic female audience. In 2021, they released a new line of the Myx product, with a slight difference; the new and improved version is a low-calorie, canned, easy-to-drink wine.
50 Cent: Branson Cognac
Legendary rapper, actor, and producer 50 Cent announced his newest line of alcohol after he sold his share of Effen for $60 million. In April of 2018, Fif’ put out a post on Instagram explaining his reason for being in France. It was clear that the hip-hop mogul had more to deliver as he started his own Cognac brand called Branson. Developed in the central regions of France, 50 delivers another quality brand of alcohol from the finest vineyards in the region.
Lil Wayne: Bambu Rum
One of the greatest rappers to date, Lil Wayne has partnered with Bambu to put out a line of a very rich rum that takes the flavors straight from the Caribbean. Each of the bottles are distilled at their Barbados location. Bambu Rum XO takes many of the ingredients that make up the “Bumbu” taste from the West Indies and adds a little twist for Tunechi’s release of “Tha Carter V”. With aromas of toffee, toasted oak, and vanilla, consumers can enjoy this on the rocks or with a traditional rum mixed drink.
Diddy: Ciroc
You’ve probably seen DJ Khaled on his Snapchat story holding a skinny, clear bottle of liquor in many different flavors. This is Ciroc. They make an original, of course, as well as flavors such as Apple, Peach, Red Berry, and Vanilla. The part-owner of this liquor brand happens to be the one and only Sean Combs, aka Diddy.
Diddy went into business with Ciroc, however, the liquor failed to take off. It was the 50th ranked vodka in the world at the time. But, Diddy made the deal with Diageo for 50/50 share in profits. Ciroc’s sales went from 60,000 boxes to 169,000 boxes in just a year. Then in 2009, the number increased to 400,000. Further, Ciroc hit its highest sales volume in 2014-2015 with 2.6 million cases sold.
