Chris Webby offers a diverse range of topics that he raps about. He has referenced Game of Thrones, Hilary Clinton, Mike Pence, climate change, and his hatred of mumble rappers. No topic is off-limits and he has a knack for incorporating pop culture or political references into his music. The latest pandemic that’s sweeping the world is Covid-19 or the novel Coronavirus. Webby’s latest freeverse, “Quarantine” produced by JP On Da Track, touches on that subject. Released Sunday night, Chris Webby’s “Quarantine” references the impending quarantine that some of us are anticipating or currently experiencing. The official video also dropped.
The video starts out with Webby giving introducing himself and telling listeners that this is how to survive a pandemic. The video has a very quarantine-esque feel to it as it was filmed inside his house, there’s a giant bottle of hand-sanitizer, nonperishable food piled on the table, and his girlfriend wearing a medical mask. A stash of mango Juul pods and a bottle of Corona (remember, it’s a beer too) also makes an appearance.
The song touches on all the activities that people should be doing instead of socializing, including multiple references to the use of hand sanitizer. Webby touches on the dangers of isolating ourselves from the world as well, hinting on the fact that we’ve all gone a little crazy. This is one track that should be added to your Coronavirus quarantine playlist. Webby also mentions spending time with his producer during all of this. Hopefully, there are more tracks on the way as we ride this out.
Chris Webby was supposed to go on tour this spring with Spose, Ekoh, ANoyd, and Rook, but this virus will likely change that. Hopefully, they are able to figure out a solution.
