QU/NTEN has become a regular out of North Carolina for us to feature, writing about him since he was 18-years-old. Now, in his 20’s, QU/NTEN has proven he deserves the PNW love. He’s constantly leveled up and comes to us with a new and improved sound each time.
His latest track “2 Gone” is inspired by two of the hottest names in hip-hop right now, Jack Harlow and Tory Lanez. Both artists have been dropping absolute heat all summer and QU/NTEN taps into that energy. Giving us a little bit of that cocky hot-boy vibe while maintaining his likability.
The production gives me some of those same chills you get from Jay Rock’s “Win,” with the anthemic keys reminding me of the horn instruments used in Jay’s chart topping hit.
Growth and Hip-Hop
Overall, while “Dragstrips” is still a favorite of mine, there’s no denying QU/NTEN’s writing and flow has improved. This is displayed the best in “2 Gone” with his hook which he comes with right from the beginning. Delivering it so smooth and with confidence, he mimics Tory Lanez in his controversial track “Boink Boink.”
The video for “2 Gone” is simple but it’s nice to have some visuals to go with the song. Nothing flashy or big time, just QU/NTEN and bros out in North Carolina trying to put on for their city. Some simple editing tricks make the video more intriguing and shows a little personality as to who QU/NTEN is as an artist.
