Perry Porter is a dude that may be new to our blog but I have had some experience with seeing live in action. His beat choice has always been dope and he adds a ton of emotion to whatever musical backdrop he choses for his tracks. His voice is unique and almost has an older New York sound to it. He recently dropped his ‘Kings Only EP’ which is nothing short of lyrical and cohesive. Porter chose to run with Supreme Sound Architects, DJ Semaj, and BlackMic for production on the EP. Perry grabbed a few features from LuWees, C.Dubb, and one of our Northwest Favorites, Thaddeus David.
DJ Semaj, who has produced for Wu Tang’s Raekwon, had this to say about working with Perry, “I thought he was already signed. He sounded so polished. Some of my personal favorites were Pharaoh Gammos, Toast to The Gods, and Gold Mine personally. I’m always a sucker for some soul sampled music and all these tracks feature a different bounce to that style of music. I hear hints of an early 90s Jay Z on Pharaoh Gammos for sure. Perry also dropped a trippy visual to the track ‘Lipstick’ off the EP which you can peep below.
