This is the year of Parisalexa. The 20-year-old singer/songwriter has been on a roll since the release of her Bloom EP last year. She’s since gained national attention from her hit, “Ballin,” from her Flexa EP that came out last June. Recently she sang the national anthem at a Sounders game; the girl is thriving. Today she put out a new single called “Water Me” off her upcoming album, 5, that NPR had the exclusive drop on.
The single came with a sultry, yet moody music video that finds Paris singing about recovering from a break-up. The song features minimalistic instrumentation that really makes her voice shine. You’ll notice it’s mostly somber piano with just the right amount of percussion. The windy, yet arid farmland in the backdrop of the music video amplifies the lyrical content of the song with lines like “are you gonna water me?” Scope the video below and listen to Paris let her guard down about feelings we can all relate to.
