Oscars Night: Dancing with the Stars Week Two Recap

Season 33 of Dancing with the Stars continued last Tuesday, with week two: Oscars Night, in which the 13 couples performed one unlearned dance to a song from an Academy Award-nominated film. A double elimination occurred this week, and 11 couples remain in the season. The season is hosted by Alfonso Roberto and Julienne Hough and is judged by Carrie Ann Inaba, Derek Hough, and Bruno Tonioli. Online voting is open during the live performance at dwtsvote.abc.com.

Oscars Night Eliminations

Dancing with the Stars week two eliminated two couples: Anna Delvrey and Ezra Sosa, Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov. Neither couple had the lowest combined scores by the judges, but with online voting factored in, they were brought to in the competition.

The fourth couple to grace the stage, Delvrey and Sosa performed a quickstep dance to KT Turnstall’s “Suddenly I See” featured in the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada. They received a combined score of 17 from the judges, bringing their total to 35.

The eleventh couple to grace the stage, Spelling and Pashkov performed a rumba dance to “This is Me” from the 2017 film The Greatest Showman, by Keatle Settle and the film’s ensemble. Their dance received 19 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 36.

Oscars Night Winner

Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong remain in the lead for this season of Dancing with the Stars. Tey danced danced the rumba to Billie Eilish‘s “What Was I Made For?” from the 2023 live-action Barbie movie. The fourth couple to perform scored a combined 24 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 47 points for this season.

Oscars Night Dances

The first couple to perform on Dancing with the Stars week two: Oscar’s Night was Jenn Tran and Sasha Farber. They danced the tango to “A Little Party Never Killed Nobody (All We Got)” by Fergie, Q-Tip, and GoonRock from the 2013 film The Great Gatsby. Tran and Farber received a combined score of 19 points from the judges, bringing their total to 38.

The next couple to perform on Dancing with the Stars week two: Oscars Night was Eric Roberts and Britt Stewart. They waltzed to “The Godfather Waltz” by Nino Rota and Carlo Savina from the 1972 film The Godfather. Roberts and Stewart earned 15 points from the judges, bringing their combined total to 30 points. As of week two, Roberts and Stewart are the lowest-scoring couple of this season.

Danny Amendola and Whitney Carson were the next couple to perform on Dancing with the Stars week two. Amendola and Carson performed a jive dance to “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins from the 1986 film Top Gun. They received a combined 21 points from the judges, bringing their total to 41.

The sixth couple to perform was Reginald VelJohnson and Emma Slater. They performed a Paso-double dance to Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” from the 1988 film Die Hard. VelJohnson and Slater scored a combined 15 points for the judges, bringing their total to 31, placing them in the bottom three for the week.

The next couple to perform was Stephen Nedoroscik and Rylee Arnold. They performed a Paso-double dance to the Superman (1978) theme by The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra. Nedoroscik and Arnold earned a combined 22 points from the judges, bringing their total to 43.

Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson were the next couple to perform on Dancing with the Stars week two: Oscar Night. Graziadel and Johnson performed a rumba dance “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper from the 2018 film A Star is Born. They scored 22 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 43.

Phaedra Parks and Val Chmerkovskiy were next to perform on week two. Parks and Chmerkovskiy danced the foxtrot to Jennifer Hudson’s “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going” from the 2006 film Dreamgirls. They scored a combined 21 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 30.

The 11th couple to perform on week two of Dancing with the Stars was Dwight Howard and Daniella Karagach. They danced the foxtrot to “City of Stars” by Ryan Gossling from the 2016 film La La Land. Howard and Karagach scored a combined 22 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 44 and placing them in second place behind Chandler Kinney and Brandon Armstrong.

Brooks Nader and Gleb Savchenko were the second to last couple to perform on Dancing with the Stars week two: Oscars Night. Nader and Savchenko performed a quickstep dance to “9 to 5” by Dolly Parton from the 1980 movie of the same name. They scored a combined 20 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 38.

The 13th and final couple to perform on Dancing with the Stars week two: Oscar Night was IIona Maher and Alan Bersten. They performed a salsa dance to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes from the 1987 film Dirty Dancing. Significantly, they added their own twist to the famous dance, which judge Carrie Ann Inaba praised them for. Bersten first lifted Maher into a flip, which she then repeated, lifting him, before finishing with the film’s iconic overhead lift. Maher and Bersten scored a combined 21 points from the judges, bringing them to a total of 39 points for the season.

Dancing with the Stars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on ABC and Disney+. Episodes are made available for streaming on Hulu the following day. There will not be a broadcast on Oct. 1 to avoid conflict with the Vice Presidential Debate between Tim Walz and JD Vance, but Dancing with the Stars returns on Oct. 7 at 8 p.m. for a special two-night event.
