Nobi just dropped an insane music video for his track “LXST” off his debut album Fulminate. With layers upon layers of visuals, this video is more like a mini movie, with Nobi hitting on topics of love, peace, and race. He’s one of the most vocal artists in the area when it comes to saying what he believes is right. Nobi drops this track to let people know he ain’t forgot about the issues brought up in 2020.
The “LXST” music video comes out two years after riots and racial injustice were brought to the forefront of the nation’s attention. Some may have forgotten, sinking back into their own world of bliss and ignorance, whether they mean to or not. “LXST” looks to shock the system with that in mind; however, Nobi is smarter than most and knows that coming in too hot might ward off anyone from truly listening to what he’s saying. What do I mean by that exactly? Let’s dive into the track and take a moment to get lost in the message.

The track starts out distorted and menacing, but once Nobi begins rapping, it turns into more of a story that he’s laying down the foundations for. His first verse uses a 90’s-like cadence, really emphasizing the pronunciation and end of each word. The second verse is more of a high croon, where Nobi begins to let out some of the pain he is feeling in “LXST.”
Tired Of Feeling “LXST”
The first two minutes are very somber and slow-paced. We see Nobi going through a struggle with imagery representing some of the issues society has created. One of the strongest visuals from this video comes when we see Nobi blindfolded in the woods with a VR headset on, something that I see as a play on people being blinded by media and technology.
Surrounded by masked gunmen, a white male is placed next to Nobi with a pistol tossed between them. It’s likely that this symbolizes racial tension in America, where some may feel pressured to fight and argue with a person of different color just because somebody else tells them to. That message can go for prejudiced conflicts in general, too, not just on the topic of race.
At this point in the video, there is a short break where Nobi begins to build into a different character. As if going through a re-birth, we literally see him get buried alive. The second half of the track is Nobi speaking exactly what is on his mind and not holding anything back – whether you like it or not. Powerful bars call out the hypocrisy of modern media, and how some news firms seem to portray Black people to only have value in sports, comedy, and entertainment.
“If we on TV it’s for sports and public shamin’ or comedy I see the irony in making ’em laugh. See we just entertainment to the faces facin’ the glass”

We all remember “shut-up and dribble,” but maybe it’s time to shut-up and listen.
