The Memphis rap community has really been crushing the game over the last decade. Multiple generations of artists have set the standard for dope music in the area. Across the industry, Memphis has clearly grown to be a major city for rappers to achieve success in. One of the super talented rising stars is NLE Choppa and we were able to catch up with the young legend in an exclusive interview at Warner Music Group’s office in Downtown Los Angeles. Check out the official NLE Choppa interview down below for the full conversation.
Since 2020, Respect My Region and Devon Jefferson, the Founder and CEO of Drops Media, have been collaborating to produce rap and hip-hop coverage supporting rising artists. On Wednesday January 18th, Jefferson was able to sit down with NLE Choppa in Los Angeles and ask him about working with other artists and his success in the industry so far.
In the interview, the Memphis artist talks about working with Moneybagg Yo and Young Thug as well as why he views himself as Polo G’s “Lil Big Bro.” NLE is surprised when Devon tells him he’s had 7 RIAA Gold and Platinum plaques. Choppa shares that he’s excited everytime he gets one but didn’t realize he had that many. His “Shotta Flow” record has gone 3x Platinum already.
