Nick Weaver has been exploring his artistic boundaries as of late. “Meyers Briggs” is just another stepping stone in a long line of exploratory content Weaver has released as of late. While he made a name for himself of lyrically driven raps, his latest stuff is on a vibey experimental tip.
“Meyers Briggs” finds Nick Weaver breaking down is own mental state and reflecting on a very common artistic mindstate involving harsh self-critique. Being your own worst critic has pros and cons. Pros being the discipline and drive to create better art. The cons, however, can take you down a precarious mental spiral filled with questions like “why the fuck do I keep doing this?” The artistic grind is a doozey and it feels like Weaver is working through that in this project.
The video is a trippy sing-along filled with mental mazes and graining VHS footage. Simple lyrics and complex visuals create an ambiguity that allows decoding your own meaning from the images like a musical Rorschach test.
The single was produced by Jake Crocker, engineered by Sendai Mike and Wyatt Kasin designed the visuals. This track makes a good candidate for repeat plays during late-night grind sessions.
