PNW Rising Flames - 1.17.2024

New Pacific Northwest Tunes That Are Pure Flames | PNW Rising

In this week’s edition of PNW Rising we bring you more of the freshest beats and hottest tracks from the Pacific Northwest’s thriving hip-hop scene. We’ve got some dope submissions that were shared with us, and we are extremely excited to share these flames with all of you. Check out the creativity and authenticity of the vibrant hip-hop community in the Pacific Northwest, as reflected in this week’s raw narratives and polished flows.

Lewie “Blackballed”

Blues-y electric guitar with classic hip-hop base set the tone for this track, and Lewie supplies some fire melodies with his wordplay. On the other hand, you got the Tacoma artist’s accounts of life on the streets contrasting with his soft delivery. Despite this contrast, the cohesive number as a whole comes together seamlessly.

Oblé Reed “NEPO BABY (Homemade Daydreams)”

Oblé Reed’s coming out with another one, ya’ll, and his talent does not cease to impress. Reed spits his poetry and makes it look so easy as he describes the life he’s trying to build for his progeny. The music video, in true Oblé Reed fashion, is artistic as hell with creative shots both from afar and at intimate distances.

Young Neves & KUR “Gift and Curse”

This collaboration reflects on another: the good and bad of several aspect of life. Life is filled with a lot more gray areas than we might want to admit, but Young Neves and KUR are unafraid of confronting that with their symbiotic back and forth. The piano and high pitched vocalization in the background are catchy and will keep your head bopping.

TK Been Poppin “If This Reach You”

Anyone else get into that kind of antisocial mode that has you distant from the people you care about? It’s nothing personal, you’re just in that funk that has you low energy af, and you end up missing your loved ones while still not reaching out. Clearly, TK can relate, and he puts out there with a sub bass to make sure you’re paying attention.

BRELLOO “NUN NORMAL”

BRELLOO makes it clear, he is not the average person. The PNW rapper is confident in his craft and persona, knowing he’s got something truly special. His work with Ivan Shoots is also straight fire with the out of focus shots, rapid camera pans, and colorful lighting.

Plxy West “LAST VIBE”

Plxy West starts this release really strong with some quick paced and quick witted bars. The special effects on his vocals in between verses gives you a mini break that relaxes the tune, but then he just jumps right back into spitting flames. The snyth-type rhythms mixed with guitar riffs give this bop an awesome alternative fusion.

Capital P “Back To Back (feat. Interstate Smoke & Big Thrill)”

This trio does not hesitate to bounce one verse right off another, showcasing how strong the chemistry is with each of their flows. The gentle harp strings are a clear distinction but also perfectly supplement the sub bass. The music video is clean and simple, as Capital P, Interstate Smoke, & Big Thrill walk side by side but also get their own face time with the camera without overshadowing each other.

Chuck Die$el “Sake”

The harmony and the bounce on this beat are upbeat and have that kind of infectiousness that’ll keep the song in your head all day long. Chuck Die$el has got tunnel vision on his hustle, and he’s not fixing to lose sight on his endgame. If you could cost him his success in any way, he’s gonna make it known there ain’t room for you. Mad respect.

The Unusuals “Pressure”

Living up to their name, The Unusuals have come out with something truly unique from the rest of the game. From the witty lyricism to the grabby cadence, these rappers really show off their skills in the craft. Additionally, this one of the coolest and wildest music videos I’ve seen in a while. The way it’s shot like a movie kind of has me wanting a part two.

Jay Fiddy feat. Dizzy Wright “Gram After Gram (Remix)”

An ode to cannabis, Jay Fiddy and Dizzy Wright take the art of hip-hop to appreciate the art of the plant. Obviously, it’s thanks to weed that we get the pleasure of hearing the ease of these artists’ captivating bars. This is another solid pothead anthem for the books, that’s for damn sure.

Czon & Nicco (Father & 11 Yr Old Son) “Patris eat Fillies”

We have been seeing more rappers collab with their kids, showing the future is bright for the next hip-hop generation. There really is no chemistry quite like this father and son synergy though as they cleverly bounce off each other throughout the whole music video. Throughout the years Czon has made sure to show off Nicco’s talents along with his own, and it’s an incredible combination that has us really excited for what’s to come.

Isaac Ray In Mah Own Lane

The Parkland native has come out with a project consisting of instrumentals that are pure relaxation and wordplay that’s hella deep. The 10-track album as pleasantly tender as it may sound comes with some dark storytelling about loss and grief. Isaac Ray’s been through a lot after losing his brothers and other adversities and pressures. There’s something really bold and inspirational about taking that stress and pain and channeling them to make art.

We hope you use all these flames to light up your hip-hop listening experience to get you through the week. If you like what you hear, be sure to come back for more. As always, you can check out this week’s assortment as well as past picks on Respect My Region’s Spotify.
