Ang P just dropped the fourth video from his album, L.I.F.E. – Living In Fear Everyday, on the album’s one year anniversary. “My Profile”, like most of the songs on the album, was meant to paint a picture of something a lot of people deal with on an everyday basis. For this particular record, the topic was, “depression.”
Popularity and “fitting in” has always been a want or desire for most people at some point in their’ lives, however, with the addition of social media, it seems as if the need to feel accepted is at an all-time high. Not getting “likes” or “followers” is the new eating lunch alone and in-turn this has created a culture of always feeling the need to “perform” at all times.
This past year Ang P’s best friend died while fighting a serious bout of depression. At the same time Ang P was in the middle of his promo run for his album, L.I.F.E., and immediately knew he wanted to honor his late friend in some way, shape or form. He decided to do that with this video.

“My Profile” was shot by Red Williamson of Newspin Film. The black and white visual is simple is simple in many ways yet does a great job of conveying the proper feelings needed to get the intended point across. The video features Ang P rapping his lyrics with intense emotion while a sad mime also acts out various themes and lyrics during the visual.
If you have dealt with depression personally or know someone who is fighting the disease just know there is always hope for tomorrow.
