If you’re familiar with Samurai’s Del’s previous work, you notice this song fits in with his hodgepodge style, constantly melting genres together with some of the cities most talented vocalists. Rarely does Samurai Del release back-to-back songs that sound remotely similar to each other. Samurai Del genre hops project to project like college kids bar hop on a Friday night. The Seattle-based producer is back with another track; Writegroove assists Samurai’s beats with his soulful pop vocals. Their collaboration “Misdirected” is an R&B/pop banger; reminiscent of a 90’s love ballad.
“Misdirected” speaks on the divisive relationship between feelings of the heart and thoughts of the brain. Plucking guitar strings open the track, Writegroove’s lyrics float over the slow-rhymic beat. This song tugs at your heartstrings, making you think about the one that got away and complicated emotions involved with loving human beings.
“Where do we go when our hearts don’t wanna follow the voice inside our head?”
