The spirit of hip-hop is flagrantly alive in Seattle with several young emcees rising into the limelight as of late. Brandon Michael Christie aka Michaelson is a direct product of the prominent surge of conscious rap that’s been thriving. A 22-year-old Renton native, Michaelson has been moving quietly in the shadows since his success as a two-year alumnus of Macklemore & Ryan Lewis’ artist development program “The Residency.”
His success with the program has led him to perform on King 5’s “New Day Northwest,” to performing alongside Mack at a sold-out Paramount Theatre gig. Michaelson’s growth throughout these last several years has been apparent in his music as well as his stage presence. In this time he’s really gotten into his bag and found his artistic direction.
Within the last three years though, Michaelson has gone quiet to prepare for something truly big. Over this time he’s been building up the kind of solid team that will take him to new heights. As well as preparing his studio debut for the masses. He’s recently taken to social media to hint and tease at big moves he has in the works. From looking at the kid’s resume it’s apparent that he’s got mad potential. You can tell he’s got ample support in all of the right places.
He’s even teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Milo Eubank to get his sound large and in-charge. Keep your eyes on Michaelson because he’s undoubtedly about to take some enormous leaps and strides in the new decade. Keep your eyes peeled for the first single dropping off the project sooner than later.
