All this backlash saying that Wu-Tang: The Saga Continues is only questionably Wu is ridiculous. The Wu-Tang Clan is so much more than just the nine original members. The Wu is a lifestyle, a hip-hop religion if you will. It can be found in anybody willing to tap into it.
Mathematics, the producer of this album is 100,000% a part of the Wu-Tang Clan. In the early days RZA called upon him to design the logo. There were even two other versions before the iconic logo everybody knows today. Math also grew and developed beat making skills under RZA’s wing. Eventually producing many tracks for the entire clan.
The Saga Continues was compiled by Math in an effort to emulate the raw essence of 36th Chambers. Chronic 2001 was also a major influence in the creation of this album. The overall final sound of the album can make an old head shed a tear.
The only Wu members you don’t see on the featured list are U-God, and GZA. This album alone proves that the lyricism from the old school is an art that will never go out of style. A fresh sound was added through the addition of some artists from outside the Wu.
“When I get albums, I wanna hear albums I can rock to from beginning to end, all the way through. So, that’s what I was trying to do. And in order to do that, you have to create something that’s … it’s gotta be a masterpiece.”
