Whether its due to the Biblical sized flood of music that’s dropping from some of the hottest artists in hip-hop tomorrow (A$AP Mob, Lil Uzi Vert, and XXXtentacion to be exact) or if he was just feeling some type of way this morning, Madeintyo has blessed us with his True’s World EP a day earlier via Fader.com!
After months of tweets and Instagram stories of him teasing music off the project and reassuring us that it was well on its way, it is finally here and it does not disappoint in the slightest. Prior to its release, Tyo had tweeted out that he’s trying out some new sounds and I was personally worried he might move away from his core style of eccentric boasts about owning rare collaboration pieces, easy-to-remember and catchy-as-hell hooks, and a plethora of skkrt skkrt!’s and OOOO!’s. However, where experimentation can sometimes be a point of concern for longtime fans of an artist, Madeintyo only impressed and displayed a whole new sphere of music he can add to his repertoire.
I'm changing & my music is as well! excited to share new vibes.

My early favorite of the project, without a doubt, has to be “Eating” (produced by Yada Yada & Di$ney) and it’s Mr. Tokyo crooning like we’ve never heard before. He’s layed down some more r&b-type vocals on songs before like “TEAR IT DOWN” with 24hrs and “Instinct” with Roy Woods, but he didn’t really ever leave the tonal range he usually raps in, unlike on “Eating” where he’s serenading in higher notes to a slower tempo, creating a bouncy, sensual track.
The other stand out to me was “TOO QUICK”, which is classic Madeintyo braggadocio in a tailor-made cadence intertwined with perfectly timed adlibs over a bass heavy instrumental. I tend to like more lyrical content and at 21 I already sort of feel like an old head for not being more on top of all these new-wave guy’s music; but I’ve always thought Madeintyo sets the bar and leads the pack when it comes to uber-hype swag-rap (the term “mumble” rap is derogatory in my opinion) and on True’s World its no different.
Madeintyo not only proved, yet again, that he’s the go-to rapper right now for fun, turn-up music we can all sing to, he also displayed that he’s growing as an artist, becoming more introspective in his writing and more expansive in his vocal range.
