Logic has exploded throughout the year of 2018, and he’s showing no signs of slowing down by dropping a new single titled “One Day” featuring OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder. After dropping his projects Everybody and Bobby Tarantino II, he’s reached a level of success and fame he’s never seen before.
Throughout “One Day”, Logic addresses being at the height of his fame with the main topic of the song focusing on how he has everything he ever wanted in life. He conveys these topics with lines such as “I been at it since a teen, get this money, get the cream” and “I never thought I’d see the day I made a million”.
The instrumental of the song is highly piano driven while the kicks in the track pair nicely with Logic’s rhymes. Even though it’s accurately seen in every song, his lyrical precision in his verses is impressive to say the least. Ryan Tedder is mainly heard on the vocals of “One Day”, and while he’s an interesting choice to have as a feature, his part of the song isn’t as successful. This is due to the pitchy vocals, leaving the impression that some of the notes are clearly outside his range.
Nevertheless, “One Day” is definitely more pop driven compared to most of Logic’s songs on his last project Bobby Tarantino II. While it won’t qualify to be the next rap classic, it’s an uplifting track that has a positive message, and deserves a listen.
