Locksmith has returned with a new visual for his song titled “Gimme A Sec.” While the Oakland rapper released a large amount of material in 2016 and 2017, he’s surprisingly been far more quiet throughout this year. His latest song is meant to be a stand alone single, even though details are unclear if a full project will follow.
Locksmith dials in his lyrical precision on “Gimme A Sec”, where he brings a large set of bars from start to finish. Throughout the song, he doesn’t rely on a chorus or certain theme, instead he fires off punchline after punchline with his rapid delivery.
One of the most unique components to the track is the addition of the dramatic sounding violin in the instrumental. The smooth slides and transitions through a wide range on the violin are rare to find in a hip-hop track, as the overall feel and timbre is more commonly seen in a classical piece of music. As a result, it adds greater depth to the overall instrumental. Check out the new track below!
