Local Music Spotlight: TYuS Returns With New Song “WhatsAManSupposed2Do”

This week’s local music spotlight documents Portland based singer TYuS with his latest release titled “WhatsAManSupposed2Do.” The R&B artist has been prolific to say the least, with dropping a new track every 30 days for the past four months. The feedback from his fans is also impressive, as a large amount of people resonate with his emotional yet infectious sound.

On “WhatsAManSupposed2Do”, TYuS makes it clear that the song is very meaningful to him. This is seen with the raw emotion and smooth melodic lines showcased throughout. One of the most impressive elements of the track is the layered vocals that back his verses and chorus. This adds greater depth to the overall delivery and context of the lyrics.

The instrumental is equally as impressive with the general mood it provides. The slow moving beat has many Lo-fi qualities, even though it technically qualifies as an R&B beat. The filtered high pitched percussion paired with a heavy snares adds this effect to the track. The simple instrumental fits well, because it creates space for TYuS to shine on the track.
