After several years of two long-running lawsuits with Birdman and Cash Money Records, rapper Lil Wayne has settled both suits. As a result, his long-awaited album “Tha Carter V” will most likely see its release sometime this year. Universal reportedly spent over 10 million dollars to settle and is expected to release the album since Wayne’s deal with Cash Money is finally over.
Check Out Lil Wayne’s Latest Release: Dedication 6
While we have seen several projects in the form of Dedication 6 and The Free Weezy Album, Wayne’s last release which had a large amount of success dates seven years back, to 2011’s Tha Carter IV. Even though Lil Wayne has stepped back from doing features and his impact in recent years has been minimal, he is still one of the most successful hip-hop artists of the 21st century.
The intrigue about Tha Carter V couldn’t be higher. This is due to the legal battles which have encompassed and blocked the initial release, the suspicions of this being Wayne’s last album, and also for the fact that it has been so long since we’ve seen a formal project from him. It will be interesting to see if Wayne will go back and change up some of the songs since he now has ownership over the material, or if he will leave it and let us listen to what was made years ago.
