Jose Castillo, originally from Lechería, Venezuela, began taking an interest in music at a very young age. At around the ages of 8-10, he was already performing. Once he got to college he found the increasing desire to start a band.
First, just jamming in a room with some friends and having a good time. Then eventually, they started a punk rock band with influences from bands such as Green Day, Limp Bizkit and Papa Roach. The venture was fairly successful but Jose wanted to change it up and do something more commercial. He knew there was a more palatable way to deliver rock to the masses.
Now, it’s 2007, and Fordelucs (For-the-looks) is born, an exciting new band with massive potential. They had an opportunity to sign with a label initially but ultimately made the decision to stay independent. This gamble on themselves paid off tremendously.
In 2009, they performed at the New Bands Festival in Caracas, Venezuela, where they won Band of The Year. This launched a string of appearances on TV shows, newspapers articles, and other mainstream media. The years 2009-12 were a whirlwind with the band touring like crazy.
Mundo (2009 Album) – Fordelucs
Jose Castillo was nearly insurmountable during this time as he alone had recorded, produced, mixed and master all of the first two albums for Fordelucs. In doing so he was able to continue to develop as a multifaceted artist. Unfortunately, in 2015 Fordelucs split during the recording sessions of their third album.
There was no drama between the band, they mostly had to split due to political and economic factors in Venezuela. Jose then moved to LA and continued to learn and grow as a musician, joining the Musicians Institute in Hollywood.
During his time at the institute, Jose competed and won an in-school competition. This gave him validation as proof that he should continue to pursue music. Fast forward to 2017, Fordelucs has finished and released their third album from the distance. After this, Jose wanted to start getting involved in the business side of the industry.
Wonder Bros LA
Looking to pitch songs for commercials, major artists, etc. Jose has made his own label under the name Wonder Bros LA. Looking to build a roster of composers, musicians, and artists. The label is just getting off the ground now but Jose is the perfect pilot for this plane.
With a strong background in filmmaking and working for behemoth brands like Coca-Cola, Wonder Bros LA will be releasing new music and pitching songs and ideas to pop stars, movies, commercials, and tv shows of all varieties in no time. Follow Wonder Bros LA on Instagram to tap in.
Melvina EP
Jose Castillo has been through and achieved a lot in his musical career thus far. But nothing has been as important as his first solo EP Melvina is now. Having never released solo music prior, Jose spent 5 years developing his sound and finding the path he wants to take for his own music.
After years of experimenting Jose finally found his niche, settling into an amalgamation of electro-pop and indie-dance sounds. Melvina will be releasing around the summertime and is sure to be a visceral experience perfect for those sunny days connecting with friends and throwing a few back.
